The Aspen Leafs hockey team dominated the Detroit Red Wings Alumni 6-3 to win their second straight Stirling Cup. The Red Wings brought in some fresh talent in an attempt to avenge last years 7-3 pasting, but the end result was the same. The stacked Aspen squad was too strong and used their 8,000 ft home-ice advantage to prevail for the second consecutive year.

The Stirling Cup All Star Weekend, named in memory of the late Stirling Cooper, celebrated its 10th Anniversary this year. The weekend benefits local programs for kids including Aspen Junior Hockey, AVSC and Aspen United Soccer Club. Activities included a VIP Party, Golf and of course the highly competitive hockey game. The Aspen Recreation Center (ARC) was filled to capacity to watch The Detroit Red Wings Alumni Team take on the Aspen Leafs.
The Leafs came out on top again, but everybody (including the Wings) had a great weekend. A substantial amount of money was raised to benefit Aspen's youth programs all in honor of the late Stirling Cooper. Shhhhhh, don't tell, but AspenSpin is a Detroit fan. We've twittered with a couple of the more recently retired Red Wings and we're hoping to get Stevie Yzerman, Bob Probert and Chris Chelios (if he ever retires) to skate in Aspen next year.

Aspen, Colorado has the best office space in the entire world. It's an awesome place for THE MEETING. Our conference room sits at 12,000 feet atop AJAX and includes a view of the Aspen Highlands Bowl. We rarely have any traffic during the 18 minute commute on the Silver Queen Gondola.
The Meeting, in its 5th year, is a snow sports "industry event" and film festival hosted by Aspen/Snowmass. The Meeting brings together Action Sports Athletes, Filmmakers, Agents, Sponsors, Media, friends of the industry....and AspenSpin.com.
We slayed both THE MEETING and its related event, NEPSA (Aspen spelled backwards), an amateur short film comp. that has been going off for 7 years. The photos say it all, Aspen exploded in a pre-season frenzy. The flix, the chix, the parties and the "after" parties all had a mid-season feel. AspenSpin has attended all 5 years of THE MEETING and each of the 7 NEPSA Awards. 2009's lineup set a new standard for excellence. Only one word can adequately describe it---- SiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiCK.

Everybody loves BEER, especially during Oktoberfest at Wienerstube in Aspen. The 'stube went off the hizzzzzz last night at first night of Oktoberfest. Wienerstube proprietor Harald Neuweg and his staff have created the most authentic Oktoberfest that Aspen has ever seen. The traditional celebration continues all weekend (9/25 - Sun 9/27) in the Aspen core. Oktoberfest has been the premier party in the World since 1810.
Neuweg who grew up near the German border in the Austrian Alps knows how to set the stage. Wienerstube always offers great Austrian food, but Harald added some special stuff for Octoberfest. Schnitzel, Spatzle and all the Brats and Wurts you can handle. Of course the BEER is flowing like a river. If you're up to it----try the 2 Liter "DAS BOOT". If you do manage to down "das boot" you'll be ready to dance to the live entertainment from T.A.G. -- Those Austrian Guys.
Stop into Wienerstube this weekend. Tell 'em A-Spin sent ya.
Yah, dude-bro, bro-brah, bro-bro, shred betty, chix on stix, knuckle dragger, free skiers, free-heelers, free-stylers, free-loders, rippers, strippers and midnight hut trippers. It's sooooo on. Aspen's 2009 / 2010 ski season kicked off tonight @ NEPSA.
Let us break it down 4 ya...
Aspen is the most influential ski-town in the world (our opinion). All the most influential ski-film producers in the world are in Aspen for THE MEETING & NEPSA (Aspen spelled backwards and the locals favorite). It already dumped. Cash prizes, ski porn, swag and models. Add that all up using the transitive property (our calculation) it means only one thing......
GAME ON !!!
NEPSA RESULTS: 1) Pat Sewell 2)Aspen Extreme Redeux (James Logan,Tyler Middleton,Derek Koster,Vince Mathias,Greg Ernst 3) Mike Cuseo CROWD FAVORITE: ASPEN EXTREME REDEUX
