We've been meeting lots of picture snappers this season.  Amateurs and pro's a-like.  Everybody thinks they're the next Alfred Eisenstaedt.  O.K. you're on.  We'll pay $$$ for good pix or 1 minute vids.  We're ready to share the wealth.  IT'S GO TIME on A-Spin.

How'd your day go? 

We called in SiiiiiiiiiiiCK-------- and it was. 

Very few people in Aspen went to their real jobs on Monday.  It was the third straight huge POW day.  We are all so fried.   We're barely gettin' by on a cocktail mix called the A-Spin,  it's Vioxx, Advil and Red Bull. 

Schools were closed, the airport was closed, roads were closed ---but the Gondola was open.  It's the land of DEEP POWDER ---and we dig it.

Dump-uary

Where are ya?   Da kidz back in skool?   It dumped and dumped and dumped and dumped this weekend.  

The Spin 'o' meter is calling it 24"-27" on Ajax in the past 24 hrs.  Expectations are running high---- and it's still dumping. 

It looks like floatation devices (fat boys) and breathing apparatus (snorkel) will be required for today's activities....POWDER SKIING.  

Buddy Call

The Buddy Program needs you!!                                                         

This Thursday January 10, 2008 www.BuddyProgram.org is hosting their Winter fundraising event.  This year singer Rufus Wainwright is playing in the intimate setting of The Belly Up/ Aspen.  It's sure to be an awesome evening.  Check out www.BellyupAspen.com to learn more about Rufus Wainwright.  He's considered to be one of the greatest singer/songwriters of his generation and the $100 donation for general admission will go to support the  good work of----- THE BUDDY PROGRAM. 

Since 1973, The Buddy Program has been providing a much needed mentoring program for youths aged 6-18.   Adults who volunteer are trained and then matched to an appropriate buddy.   Mentoring is a powerful way for young people to develop competence and character.  The Big Buddy provides guidance and coaching to the Little Buddy to help prepare them for life's challenges. 

It's great work being done by a tremendous organization.  Come to the RUFUS show and show your support for the kids and The Buddy Program. 

Park Avenue Freeze-Out

We heard that a gang of skiers had invaded Aspen from the 212.  We were a bit sceptical.  How were these guys going to keep up? Could they stay with the more established "sets" on Ajax like the Buckaroo's, The Dogs, The Chix on Stix and the Powder Hounds.  We give props to this band of urban rippers who named themselves SKI RADICAL.   Not only did they stay out until last call every night, but they were up for first tracks every day----in sub-zero temps no less.  Impressive!!   Ski Radical is more than just a ski-gang, it's a troupe of multi-talanted, multi-media entertainers.  Aspen Spin is ripe with anticipation to post a short video montage of Ski Radical during their recent exploits in Aspen.

Ski Radical has many members, but the core group consists of Artist/ Musician/Entreprenuer Carlton DeWoody, his cousin, Michael "The Big Dog" Rudin, aspiring thespian, David Jacobs and rookie Evan "E-Train" Speiser, an up and coming Artist's Rep.  They were joined by the "older generation"---- Real Estate practitioner  Billy "Instant Heat" Rudin, hedge fund king-pin, Joe Jacobs and trader Wayne "risk premium" Margolies.   Guiding this posse of powder schraaaalpers were long time ski-pro's Tim Young and Joe Falcone.   Given the crew, it's a safe bet that big deals were going down during every lap up-- in the bucket.

Aspen Spin had the distinct pleasure of joining Ski Radical and their ladies for a closing party at the ultra-posh Caribou Club.  After a brief "issue" at the door with "Hard Guy" Billy Stolz,---- the restraining order was eventually overlooked and A-Spin was allowed to join the feast.   The dinner was the 10 year anniversary celebration of the Rudin/Jacobs family ski trips to Aspen.  "10 more years, 10 more years" chanted the crowd--- as Joe Jacobs addressed the room and made a few inapproriate remarks.

Once dinner was over, and the "dads" hit the rack,  The younger members of Ski Radical stayed at Caribou to drink shots and chase cougars.  What goes on the road stays on the road, but we think they all scored.
