Mile High in Denver.

Lack of snow can upset the apple cart in Aspen.  While the uphill transportation, the grooming and the mountain management have all been excellent this year...Mother Nature has not cooperated. 

What do you do in Aspen when the skiing sucks....ROAD TRIP.

AspenSpin skeedaddled it down to Denver just in time for the National Western Stock Show Parade on the 17th Street Canyon.  We also perused the International Sportsman's Expo at the Denver Convention Center.  Carmelo and I found a sweeeeet dog-friendly hotel in Downtown Denver and we wined, dined, hit the movies and recuperated from an active holiday season.  Some people go to the spa to decompress and chill out.  We hit the gritty urban streets of Denver, Colorado.

When you live the swag lifestyle...you got to go where the action is.  The Sportsman's Expo had some decent free stuff, yo...a sick camo lid, floating key chains, a book on extreme survival techniques and tons of beef jerky samples.  The streets of LoDo were bustling as it was sunny and 68 degrees.  A late afternoon game of fetch in the park, an art flick and a late-night Satire Lounge burrito completed the trip.

 

Rose Hill Drive channels The Who in Aspen.

Rose Hill Drive the Boulder power rockers hit Aspen tonight.  The guitar shredding  Sproul Brothers,  Jake and Daniel along with Jimmy Stofer on bass and drummer Nathan Barnes formed Rose Hill Drive in High School in the Sproul's basement. They eventually got kicked out of their Boulder neighborhood due to excessive rocking.

Rose Hill Drive has toured with The Who, Stone Temple Pilots and others.  They were named by Rolling Stone as a top 10 artist to watch in 2007. 

Tonight they played tribute to The Who by covering the iconic 1971 album Who's Next.  If you closed your eyes and just listened to the music...it felt like 1971 again. Classic 70's tunes Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, Won't Get Fooled Again and Going Mobile transcended time in Aspen as generations collided on the dance floor.   Senior citizens were jam dancing with teens at the all-ages show at Belly Up.

Pick Up My Guitar and play....just like yesterday.  It was a flashback.

Party Rockin' in Aspen for New Years

HAPPY NEW YEAR from AspenSpin.com   A Happy and healthy 2012 to y'all.  We are hoping for plenty of high times and powder snow in the  up-coming year.

Whew! So glad that's over. AspenSpin goes BIG all year long, so New Year's Eve is just another night for us.  Sure, New Year's is always a HUGE celebration in Aspen but we leave the super-sick, party-till-u-drop routine for the others.  Since Aspen's Bomb Threat in 08/09 NYE has never been the same.

For most people in Aspen the night consisted of 2 sets of fireworks, stumbling drunk tourists, over-priced, over-hyped parties in every available space, cheap champagne, expensive champagne and very little restraint.  We attended  2 sexy parties.  We got shut down by tons of hot chicks but we took some unbelievable pix (as always).  So click 'em.  See how some people roll for NYE in Aspen.

We are sooooooooo fired up for 2012. Looking forward is our M.O.  We're #tebowing hard for POWDER here in Aspen.   Where ever you are, if you love Aspen, start doing your snow-dance, keep praying to Ullr...help us out. We are even considering human sacrifice...nobody important...just a rookie ski-tech.   The Western U.S. has been mostly devoid of POW this Winter, especially in the Rocky Mountains...unless you live in Boulder.  We heard Eldora is killing it.  So we need some weather ASAP.
