Freshman Orientation

who are these girlz?This is the best time of the season.  There's plenty of snow to schrrrramp, and all the new seasonal workers, the Freshman Class, as we call them, are settling into their groove.  Everybody's makin' friends.   The nubies don't even know what's about to hit them---- in about 2 weeks.   They haven't spent Christmas in Aspen yet, they're still "un-tried".  You know, ----Freshman Orientation.    Do you remember what that was like?  It's a gooooood, goooooood  time.

Those of us that have been in Aspen for a while, the upper-classmen---so to speak, have graduated to more

The Eagle Has Landed

It turns out that www.AspenSpin.com is becoming the "most influential" Independent voice West of Independence Pass.  Everyone is clicking and buying and clicking and booking and so on and so on, etc. etc.

Given our new found power, the Power of the Powder, we need to make a few things clear:

*If you get a chance,  see the movie IN THE SHADOW of the MOON, playing Wed. at the Wheeler.  It's a phenomenal documentary about the Space Race and the Apollo astronauts.  No, Leon Black is not starring.  Our staff was invited to a special screening, and everyone thought it was great!!!

The Best Ever?

Mark the date, December 7, 2007,  some local experts are calling  it the ......BEST POWDER DAY .....EVER!!!    

That's the buzzzzzzzz in Aspen, people are saying it.  Last Friday's huge 20" storm yielded argueably the best ski day EVER on Ajax.  "It went from the worst season--- to the best season ---in a week" quipped ski aficionado Thomas Ogden.  It's been 2 straight weekends of pounding snow storms here in the Roaring Fork Valley---and it's been simply Awesome!!

The snow mixed in with the World Cup Races /the events / the parties / the promotions and plenty of POWDER skiing has made the early season in Aspen ---in a word---- spectacular.   Click into the photo album  WORLD'S FASTEST WOMEN to see some of the action.

America's Downhill

The fastest Women skiers in the world descended down Ruthies Run at an extremely high rate of speed today.  Despite iffy weather (too much snow-----yooooop!)  it was the first FIS World Cup Downhill held in Aspen since 1988.   Look for more pix in the photo album WORLD'S FASTEST WOMEN --- coming soon.
